MBA RECRUITING

On-Campus Interviewing: Each year hundreds of top companies from around the country come to Knoxville to hold interviews on-campus for full-time and internship opportunities. Our interview facilities can accommodate as many as 15 different interview schedules on the same day. Companies that visit campus to interview are invited to hold Company Information Sessions where they can present information about their company, answer student questions, and meet students one-on-one in a non-interview setting.

Recruiting Using our Web-Based System: The MBA Career Services office and UT’s Career Services office have contracted with Experience.com to give you 24/7 access to job postings, employer profiles, and access to your recruiting profile. Search for jobs and apply to the hundreds of jobs and internships that are posted to our campus. Employers will also be able to search your resume and contact you about opportunities with their company.

Career Fairs: MBA Career Services hosts a September job fair just for MBA students and MBA employers. This intimate event offers you the opportunity to meet a diverse list of market leading companies from around the country for full-time employment and internship opportunities. The MBA Job Fair has been a recruiting tradition since 1999. Additionally, a campus wide career fair is held during the fall of each year and a campus wide Summer Job and Internship Fair is held each Spring Semester. These fairs are sponsored by the UT Career Services Office and are open to all undergraduate and graduate students.

SEC-MBA Consortium Recruiting Events: The UT MBA Program partners with the MBA programs at all of the 12 member institutions of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) to offer springtime virtual recruiting that expands the number of companies and jobs you will be considered for. For more information, please visit the SEC–MBA Consortium Web site at http://sec-mba.com.

INDIVIDUAL CAREER COUNSELING AND CAREER EXPLORATION

Individual Career Counseling and Job Search Training: Throughout the MBA Program you are welcomed to meet with the MBA Career Services Team for individual career counseling and job search training. In these sessions, our professionals will help you to further understand your career interests and help to fine-tune your job search skills. Typical sessions could include discussions on job search strategy, resume or cover letter critiques, career exploration, or tips on negotiating salaries.

JOB SEARCH STRATEGY AND TRAINING

Career Development Seminar, BA 501: In the first semester of the MBA program, you will take a 1 credit career class to help you stay on top of your career progression by providing timely information on career exploration, job search strategy, and feedback on what employers want. Cutting-edge job search techniques and guest speakers will help even the most advanced job seeker polish their skills while helping first time job seekers or career changers learn the tricks of landing the job you want. Topics include Resume Development, Cover Letter Development, Job Search Ethics, Behavioral Interviews, Case Interviews, Business Etiquette and Dress, Dining Etiquette, Legal Issues and Process, Alumni Career Panels, and more.

Mock Interviews: Mock Interviews are an excellent way to practice, prepare, and refine your interviewing skills before interviewing with companies. Even experienced interviewers can benefit from additional interview experience. Feedback is provided on the interviewees interview content, preparation, communication skills, body language, and more.
