UTK MBA Alum wins Knoxville Chamber Pinnacle Award. Chuck Witkowski, who heads one of Knoxville's young, emerging technology companies was presented with the Young Entrepreneur Award, which is given to a professional age 40 or younger who is on track to be a top business and community leader. As president of Protein Discovery, the 30-year-old Witkowski oversees a cutting-edge scientific company that develops advanced diagnostic tools to detect cancer before a tumor begins to grow.

UT MBA Students Compete in John Molson Case Competition. Recently the University of Tennessee sent a team of MBA’s to compete with 35 other teams from around the world in the annual John Molson MBA International Case Competition. “The John Molson MBA International Case Competition, a not-for-profit event organized by a team of four MBA students from the John Molson School of Business, is opened to top business schools worldwide, and is recognized as the largest competition of its kind.” The UT team consisted of Glenn Adamz, Scott Ferguson, James McDaniel, Lynn Miller, and Amit Sawhney. They were coached by Anne Smith, and assisted by Swannee Sexton and Kurt Gellert.

The team compiled a 4-1 record (tied for the second best record overall) in the round robin portion. Tennessee was the only US school that scored enough points to make it to the semi-finals. Overall, the team had a wonderful experience and represented the University of Tennessee and the MBA program extremely well. In fact in the round robin portion of the competition Tennessee beat the eventual 1 st and 3 rd place teams.

--MBA faculty receives teaching award. Dr. Linda Lyle recently received the Tennessee Communication Association's 2005 Outstanding Communication Educator in the State of Tennessee award. Dr. Lyle is a communication specialist and core faculty member in the College of Business Administration's full-time MBA and Physicians Executive MBA programs.

--- Lowe's Companies, Inc., Citi Cards, and Temple-Inland received UT's 2004-2005 MBA Employer of the Year award. This is the third year for the MBA Employer of the Year designation, which is awarded to the organizations that hire the greatest number of MBA students for full-time and internship positions within their organizations. 2003-2004 award recipients were Lowe’s Companies, Inc., Jewelry Television by ACN, and Schneider National.


US News & World Report 2006 Rankings

US News & World Report ranked UT’s College of Business Administration's supply chain and logistics graduate program #10 in the country, up three spots from last year, in its recently published 2006 America’s Best Graduate Schools rankings. “We know that we have an exceptional program in the college and are glad that US News & World Report confirms that," said Robert Woodruff, marketing and logistics department head. “Being a top-10 program is beneficial because it helps us attract the best students and faculty and the best companies for hiring our students. Next year, we plan on being in the top 5!" U.S. News and World Report also ranked UT’s MBA program #88 in the country. Each year the magazine surveys hundreds of public and private colleges and universities to rate the quality of their undergraduate and graduate programs.
