How do companies recruit UT MBA students?
Companies have access to UT MBA students in a variety of ways. The university-wide online recruiting system, Hire-A-Vol, is a unique program that collects resumes, allows employers to contact students, and gives students the opportunity to sign up for interviews. Recruiters also contact the UT MBA Career Services department on a regular basis and these opportunities are communicated directly to the students. The MBA Career Services department also constantly updates and distributes job postings to students and encourages participation in the various career fairs (campus-wide, MBA, and concentration-specific) held on campus. Resume books are kept on file in the Career Services department and distributed to all interested employers.

Networking is defined as the bringing together of individuals with common business interests in an effort to build relationships that will produce current and future benefits. The UT MBA Program has a large network of alumni, faculty, and students that work together to find the right opportunities for each and every student. Through a variety of events such as career panels, in-class speakers, faculty spotlights, job fairs, round table discussions, and conferences and forums, UT MBA students are able to expand their networks to better prepare them for the business world upon graduation.

The alumni network is heavily involved in every aspect of the UT MBA Program. Alumni speakers lead career development sessions for first-year students covering a variety of topics from interviewing to resume advice. The Career Services department also matches students with alumni mentors in their respective concentrations to provide students connections with real world business leaders. The Alumni Advisory Board is also extremely active and is involved in MBA events and activities on a regular basis.

While there is not a set list of internships that the Career Services department assigns to students, students are able to tap into the robust network of alumni and faculty connections to find the internship which best fits their respective skill set. Throughout the 17-month program numerous networking opportunities are provided and students are asked to draw upon these contacts when searching for internships.

The UT MBA Program offers a wide variety of resources to help alums throughout their careers. Hire-A-Vol is a university-wide online recruiting system that allows students to view and apply to online job postings, sign up for on-campus, telephone, and videoconference interviews, and post resumes and cover letters for prospective employers. UT MBA students also have access to the Vault Online Library, a career management resource to equip students for post-MBA jobs, and One Wire, a career management tool that connects students with top financial firms. All MBA students also have access to the extensive UT MBA alumni network as well as the numerous distinguished faculty on campus.

One of the many privileges of being a UT MBA student is having direct access to the alumni network. However, once a student has been admitted to the UT MBA Program, they have full access to the alumni network that includes more than 4,000 business professionals.
