Finance Concentration

If you select Finance as your concentration, you will attain a practical and well-rounded orientation to finance that is rigorous -- without being highly theoretical.  Although you may desire a career in a field other than finance, you may want to consider Finance as elective coursework because of the excellent preparation it affords you.  This concentration allows you the opportunity to tailor your coursework to match your professional goals and to prepare for one or more of the following career opportunities:

Investment Management

This focus prepares you for a career as a security analyst, money manager, brokerage firm analyst, insurance company representative, or other financial job function.

Corporate Financial Management

Financial management is concerned with the duties of the financial manager in business, including risk management, strategic planning, budgeting, financial forecasting, cash management, credit administration, investment analysis, and funds procurement.

Commercial & Investment Banking

This specialty is geared toward management careers in commercial banking, investment banking or capital markets. Coursework blends coverage of traditional commercial banking topics (lending, investment and trust services) with investment banking topics (underwriting, market-making, and initial public offerings), in keeping with the trend of consolidation for these two areas.

Course Options

Minimum course requirements for a Finance concentration include selecting three courses from the following course options:
