With the movement toward e-commerce in a highly technical global business environment, operations management is a key component in the arsenal of every twenty-first century manager. In both service and manufacturing industries, the Operations concentration provides the technical and quantitative framework necessary for the integration of lean concepts and supply chain management to yield a competitive lean supply chain.
Operations management is an essential component of an efficient supply chain design. It plays a vital role in enabling demand fulfillment across the value chain. Operations management bridges the gap between an efficient supply chain design, the information support system - oftentimes referred to as the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system - and the factory floor or service delivery system.
A concentration in Operations prepares you for exciting positions in both the service and manufacturing sectors. If you concentrate in Operations, you are prepared for positions such as operations manager/analyst, floor or area operations supervisor, production manager/planner, inventory analyst, lean production facilitator, process analyst, or consultant.
