Going back to school to get your MBA can be a difficult decision. However, choosing the University of Tennessee is a safe bet. Our national reputation, cutting-edge integrated curriculum, quality of faculty and attractive return on investment are pretty good arguments in our favor. Because your career success is a top priority for you, the MBA Program has a dedicated Career Services staff to assist you in your career development with the mission to serve, support and promote our students, alumni, and employers.
Our Primary Objectives

To support these objectives the MBA Career Services team offers the following services and resources to our MBA students and alumni:
MBA Recruiting
On-Campus Interviewing: Each year top companies from around the country come to Knoxville to hold interviews for full-time and internship opportunities. Companies that visit campus to interview are invited to hold information sessions where they can present information about their company, answer students’ questions and meet students one-on-one in a non-interview setting.
Recruiting Using our Web-Based System: MBA Career Services and the university has contracted with a firm that gives you 24/7 access to job postings, employer profiles and your own recruiting profile. Search for jobs and apply to the hundreds of jobs and internships that are posted to our campus. Employers will also be able to search your resume and contact you about opportunities with their company.
Career Fairs: Each fall MBA Career Services hosts a job and internship fair exclusively for MBA’s. This informal targeted event offers you the opportunity to meet representatives of market-leading companies from around the country for full-time employment and internship opportunities.
Faculty Resources and Networking Events: Many of our professors maintain sizeable networks of contacts among international corporations and are eager to introduce deserving MBA students to these companies. The MBA Program also hosts several guest speakers from the corporate world each semester offering more opportunities for students to connect with today’s business leaders.
Individual Career Counseling and Career Exploration
Throughout the MBA Program you are welcome to meet with the MBA Career Services Team for individual career counseling and job search training. In these sessions, our professionals will help you to further understand your career interests and help to fine-tune your job search skills. Typical sessions could include discussions on job search strategy, resume or cover letter critiques, career exploration, or tips on negotiating salaries.
Job Search Strategy and Training
Career Development Seminar, BA 501:In the first semester of the MBA program, you take a 1 credit career class to help you stay on top of your career progression by providing timely information on career exploration, job search strategy, and feedback on what employers want. Cutting-edge job search techniques and guest speakers help even the most advanced job seeker polish their skills while helping first time job seekers or career changers learn the tricks of landing the job you want. Topics include Resume Development, Cover Letter Development, Job Search Ethics, Behavioral Interviews, Case Interviews, Business Etiquette and Dress, Dining Etiquette, Legal Issues and Process, Alumni Career Panels, and more.
Mock Interviews: Mock Interviews are an excellent way to practice, prepare, and refine your interviewing skills before interviewing with companies. Even experienced interviewers can benefit from additional interview experience. Feedback is provided on the interviewees interview content, preparation, communication skills, body language, and more.
Additional Career Resources
MBA Alumni Network: One of the greatest resources available to you as a MBA student is your Alumni network. As students of the Full-Time MBA Program you have full access to MBA graduates of our 40+ year old program. Alumni play a key role in recruiting our students for jobs and internships in their companies, but they also volunteer their time to mentor and coach you throughout your career.
