Core III, International Business Seminar, and HUBS

Spring Semester begins Core III - BA513 -, which is similar in structure to Core II. Covered are topics regarding finance, international business, macro economics, business strategy, logistics and procurement that build on the content taught during Core II. The final six weeks of Spring Semester, you take your initial 2 concentration classes (HUBS) to provide you with a competitive advantage in preparation for your internship.

In addition to Core III and HUB classes, our students also participate in an International Business Seminar. In today’s economy, we believe that our MBA students must have a clear understanding of the global business environment in order to be successful global business leaders. While global content is integrated throughout our MBA program’s curriculum, to further enhance your learning experience, we also require that all of our MBA students:

  • Participate in the International Business Seminar  in the spring semester of the first year, and
  • Take the Global Business Strategy course in the fall of the second year.

(Due to possible Visa issues for international students on an F-1 Visa, this trip is not mandatory; rather, course credit is earned via other options. We highly recommend this additional international experience!)

Our purpose for the trip is to familiarize you with the complexities of doing business internationally through experiential learning and to help you learn how cultural, administrative, infrastructure and economic differences among countries influence doing business globally.

Typical Activities

During the trip, our MBA students evaluate a specific business issue and meet with educators, government officials as well as with high level leadership in both local and foreign companies to discuss how business is conducted in this specific global business environment.

Deliverables

The global trip includes graded deliverables (assignments) that require you to apply not only what you learn in class, but also what you experience from interacting with local businesses and government representatives during the trip.
